About the EMDR Center of the Rockies EMDR Basic Training:

EMDR trainingTamra Hughes, MA, LPC has been teaching this EMDRIA Approved EMDR Therapy curriculum since early 2014.  The curriculum taught was designed by internationally renowned EMDR therapy researcher and clinician, Andrew Leeds, PhD, one of the original trainers under Francine Shapiro, PhD, and who is cited in countless research articles pertaining to EMDR therapy, in addition to his development of Resource Development and Installation (RDI), a powerful method for improving stabilization.

This training meets for four  two-day modules that provide:

  • paced development of procedural skills,
  • review of essential concepts, and
  • in depth consultation regarding your initial practice experiences.

EMDR Basic Training requires completion of 10 hours of consultation.  Many trainings require that you get those hours in between their training dates.  With our program, it is unnecessary to seek the required consultation hours outside of the training, as the consultation is built into the training schedule and is included in the training fee.  Furthermore, the consultation is provided by me and several carefully selected consultants who are aware of where you are in the learning process.

Our training fee is highly competitive.  Compare our rates to other trainings that provide comparable content and contact hours, including consultation, and you will see why so many clinicians choose EMDR Center of the Rockies for their EMDR Training.

Other trainings compress the training into two or three modules.  When designing this curriculum, Dr. Leeds took into consideration the optimal learning format. Research on learning and training shows that after two days of training your ability to retain new information drops quickly.”  As a result, this curriculum spreads the learning and skills development over these four two-day modules and provides multiple opportunities for repeated practice, skills development and understanding of the concepts taught.

With the EMDR Center of the Rockies training you will be provided access to many easy to use forms to help organize and integrate EMDR therapy work into your clinical practice.

“As I have taught this training over the past four years, I have watched each group of training participants develop a wonderful community. The training is engaging, interactive and informational. I seek to provide a safe environment for learning where there are rich discussions, room for many questions and answers, and support and encouragement as you begin to use EMDR therapy for the first time in your clinical setting. It is truly the highlight of my career being able to share this wonderful therapy with clinicians in the Rocky Mountain Region.”
