EMDR Therapist and Consultant-in-Training
EMDR Therapist and Consultant-in-Training
Kristen is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR therapist and a Consultant-in-Training. Her formal education includes a bachelor’s degree in psychology, as well as a master’s degree in school counseling. Kristen completed her EMDR training and consultation through EMDR of the Rockies.
With over 15 years of clinical experience, Kristen has worked at various settings including public schools, intensive in-home agencies, inpatient hospitals, adolescent residential facilities, and intensive outpatient/partial hospital (IOP/PHP) programs. Currently, she works at a Texas-based group practice as a telehealth therapist and is pursuing her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. Her current treatment specialties are military families, active-duty service members, veterans, and clients navigating major life transitions.
Through warmth, compassion, and empathy, Kristen prioritizes building strong therapeutic relationships with clients. Kristen believes that counseling should focus on a holistic approach, and clients should be empowered to advocate during their treatment. With emphasis on resiliency and post-traumatic growth, clients are supported in building their own individualized and empowering goals for therapy.
While working with active-duty service members, Kristen decided to pursue EMDR training to better treat the intricacies of PTSD. After EMDR training, Kristen saw clients experience increased connection with themselves and undergo major breakthroughs in therapy. She continued her training during the EMDR certification process and is excited to help other clinicians learn and implement EMDR.
